Light Quality and Color Accuracy
Many factors affect color reproduction, including the interaction of LED spectral distribution, optics, the quality of the built-in lens, and camera noise. All these factors must be carefully designed and tuned.
All CRUSE scanners are equipped with high-quality components whose interaction guarantees consistent illumination of the originals and exact color reproduction on a wide variety of printing systems. With the CRUSE color management and the printer profiling software, you get a complete package for reproducing your scans at the highest level.
Functions
Variable Resolution
The vertically movable camera head allows variable optical scan resolutions up to 2000 ppi. The closer the camera head gets to the original, the higher the resolution. Focusing is fully automatic.
Variable Reproduction Angle
The horizontal movement of the sensor allows for a realistic viewing angle from different positions. This makes even the smallest differences on the surface and gloss effects visible.
Variable Texture Effect
Different horizontal positions of the lamps enhance the texture effects.
Light Settings + Effects
Left + Right
The homogeneous lighting from the left and right sides perfectly illuminate the original. Since textures on the original cast no shadow on the surface, it produces a flat look.
Texture Effect
The one-sided illumination (left or right) creates shading effects, which reveal textures. The scan gets a three-dimensional impression.
Variable Texture Effect
The texture effect can be enhanced or reduced by adjusting the position of the lamps accordingly. This allows the effect to be variable.
Light Angle Device
In Light Angle Device modes, the light is vertically deflected by 35°. This diagonal illumination visualizes vertical and horizontal structures.
Rear Light
The Rear Light LED option adds a temperature controlled LED light source that creates a strong 3D effect in the scan results. This very flat directed light emphasizes horizontal textures in the original and thus creates a unique look.
Hardware Options
Vacuum Table
CRUSE Synchrontable scanners can be equipped with a vacuum table. The suction force is adjustable based on the material. This function helps with scanning curled and non-flat items. Additional magnetic strips help to fix the materials.
Light Box
With the Light Box option, film and transparent items can be scanned.

High Resolution Kit
With the High Resolution Kit, even the smallest details will not be missed. An additional lens mounted on a turntable gives significantly higher optical resolutions. This increases the maximum standard resolution from 1000 ppi to 2000 ppi. It also allows extreme enlargement of reproductions without loss of quality.
Security System
Protect your scanner and valuable materials with the new security system. The system constantly checks the distances between the lamps and the originals during the scanning process. If your valuable document gets too close to the lamps, the security system stops scanning immediately and prevents collisions with the LED lamps, damage to the scanner, and damage to the original.
Color Management
The color management of the CRUSE scanners, developed in 2010 and continuously improved since then, consists of two components: the CRUSE Professional Profile software and a specifically developed profiling target (CRUSE Professional Target). This target consists of more than 800 color patches of different materials (common targets for scanner calibration usually consist of 96 or less color patches).
Our highly specialized software selects color samples out of more than 20,000 spectrally measured patches, collected in a database. These enable the scanner to cover the largest possible color gamut for any type of material, thus achieving the highest possible color accuracy.
Each CRUSE Professional Target is manually produced and spectrally measured for accuracy. This profiling target is not available for purchase, but a one-time calibration of the CRUSE scanner is sufficient to guarantee permanently perfect results.
With the very large color gamut and metamerism the CRUSE Professional Target is very demanding compared to other profiling targets. With this strict target, CRUSE scanners achieve a color accuracy of ΔE < 1.0. On standard profiling targets, the ΔE value is even significantly lower than 1.0. To put this into perspective, the average human eye cannot perceive deviations below 1.

Highest quality and longevity – without compromises!
With all new improvements, we are always true to our standards and make no compromises in the quality of the scans.
On the hardware side, for example, we stay commited to moving the original table beneath the camera. This is far less sensitive than having a camera move over the original while scanning.
Since the size of the pixels in the sensor are significantly smaller than on the table, even the slightest vibrations or mis-positioning will produce scanning errors. A moving table with a non-moving sensor is significantly less sensitive.
The central and even loading of the scan table and its guides are another great advantage of this design. The uniform and low load on the drives compared to the moving sensor and lighting unit give a very positive effect on the longevity of the scanner.
